Psalms 33:10-11 NIV
[10] The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples. [11] But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.
There is nothing we or anyone else can do to stop the Lord for accomplishing his plans. When I think of the purpose of His heart I think about Jesus. The plan to provide us a way back into fellowship with Him was in place since the beginning of time. Because of the purpose of His heart. His heart is to love us and spend time with us. Look at His time with Adam and Eve before the fall. He walked with them and talked with them in the cool of the evening. He had an intimate and personal relationship with them. When they were hiding God called out to them. When their sin became known He clothed them. His heart was filled with love. It took many, many generations for that part of His plan to come about but it did through Jesus. He is not finished there. There is more to the plan.
Psalms 33:13-15 NIV
[13] From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; [14] from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth— [15] he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do.
He has watched over us since the beginning of time and He sees all that we do. He sees all mankind. Those who trust in Him and those who don't. The purpose of His heart does not change. Now that Jesus has died for our sin, rose again and ascended into heaven, He is watching everything we do. What are we to do? We are to continue with the plan as Jesus taught us.
Psalms 33:20-22 NIV
[20] We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. [21] In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. [22] May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you.
We are to put our hope in Him and to share that hope and love with others. The loving purpose of His heart does not want it to stop with us. Jesus has told us and taught us how to carry on that ministry of relationship, reconciliation and restoration in the great commission.
Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
As we wait in hope of the Lord's return, He who is our help and our shield will help us to know how to be obedient to His call. As long as we trust in His holy name, His unfailing love and put our hope in Him we will be obedient to His plan and purpose.
Exodus 16:8 NIV
[8] Moses also said, “You will know that it was the Lord when he gives you meat to eat in the evening and all the bread you want in the morning, because he has heard your grumbling against him. Who are we? You are not grumbling against us, but against the Lord.”
But if we grumble even to each other or about each other instead of trusting in the Lord then we are grumbling about against Him. It doesn't matter if it is grumbling because we didn't get enough sleep or we are sick and in pain. It can be as simple as having a bad hair day to having a diagnosis of cancer or other deadly illness. If we are to trust in God and His greatness. His power. His love. His plan and His purpose then when we have no reason to grumble. Each grumble is a way of saying God I don't trust you. I don't think your plan is best. I don't want to follow you because I want it done my way. Grumbling reveals the purpose of our hearts which is opposition to God's. Thy will be done Lord.

“We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you.”

““The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name.”
