Matthew 23:10-12
'10Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah. 11The greatest among you will be your servant. 12For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. '
I thank Jesus for being the Instructor for my life and for all that I do. I wear a lot of leadership hats. Youth group leader, small group leader, children's message giver, praise team singer, conference organizer and speaker. In none of these things do I consider myself to be a teacher. At least when I am tempted to think that, I am grateful for scripture like these to remind me that it's not me. It's Him. Even writing this blog I am in no way teaching anyone anything. The purpose of this blog is to give myself and anyone who wants to join me a place to share what they are thinking as they read. To ask questions if they have them and we can look to our Teacher Jesus together. We had our women's conference today and God brought it all together like I knew He would. I spoke on what He had shown me. On what He was teaching me. All I did was pass it on. I appreciate all the words of affirmation and encouragement that were given to me today. But it's difficult for me to accept the praise because I know how much it is not me and I try to point people back to Him when they complement me and at the same time be gracious and thankful. It is humbling to hear those words because all I can think of is that I am in no way someone who would EVER be able to do any of this. We need to remember that when we listen to people even to our pastors they should be sharing what Jesus is teaching them and not their own ideas or agenda. They are passing on what Jesus is teaching them. We will never stop learning as long as we keep studying and listening to our great God the ultimate Teacher for our lives.
