Psalms 22:19 NIV
[19] But you, Lord, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me.
How often do you feel like we need help but don't cry out to the only one who can help us. If king David had no problem calling out to God asking Him to come quickly to help him, so can we.
Matthew 16:23 NIV
[23] Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
Jesus said that Peter was a stumbling block to Him. His words were a temptation for Jesus not to do what he came here to do. To take the easy way out. Jesus was not really going to sin but He wanted to make sure that Peter, the disciples and all of us knew how wrong it is to be a stumbling block to someone. We can even be a stumbling block to ourselves. When our pride or our opinion about whether or not we should be asking God for His help for ourselves then we are a stumbling block to ourselves. The bible shows us over and over again that we are to pray for ourselves. If we are not willing to ask God for help, then we are telling Him we don't need His help. We are saying we can handle things on our own. Our prayer for help is not just for us to get help but it is us saying to God I trust you to be able to help. Even if He doesn't. It is just as much about our faith and reliance on God as it is about our need for help and surrender to Him when we cry out to Him. So don't be a stumbling block to anyone not even yourself.

we discussed some 22 in length at my ONE group. The first words are the words that Jesus said on the cross which everyone thought was him being defeated, but he was actually saying this psalm and it is a psalm from the beginning of time until the end. Everything in the Bible is found between the first and last word. From creation to tribulation. This has moved into my favorites list, after that beautiful, deep dive into the meaning.
“Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked, “You of little faith, why are you talking among yourselves about having no bread? Do you still not understand? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you…
