Matthew 7:7-8 NIV

[7] “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. [8] For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

This morning during a time a prayer I had asked God to help me to be faithful and consistent in doing the ministry work that I am doing. I asked for the ability to not drop the ball on any of the areas that I am serving in. I asked that He show me if there is something I should not be doing that I am or something I should be doing but I am not. I had specifically asked what I should be doing with youth group and asked Him to send someone to step in if I am to step down from that. Then later that day I got a call from the leader of the mission group that we do mission trips with each year. I had reserved a week for our mission trip online and he wanted to check in and let me know that the dates are available, but he also wanted me to consider something else. He told me about an opportunity to apply for an 18-month training for ministries that serve under privileged youth. It is to equip youth leaders to preserver and not burn out among other great things and it is fully funded. I immediately thought "well that's my answer". I am not supposed to step down but help is available. It would require a time commitment and some juggling of schedules and some travel. I told him I would pray about it and talk to my husband. It felt like an answer to prayer, but I wanted to be sure. Then I did my bible reading and these verses were like a neon sign. It's like God is saying "You asked, I answered. You were seeking and now you have found. This is a door I am opening for you". But there were still doubts going through my head. Then on the way home I heard Him speaking again on the radio against those doubts. Not long ago I wrote about how once we recognize how God speaks to us He will be consistent in that. Just as He was with Joseph with dreams. The way He speaks to me is prayer, bible reading and what I hear on radio/sermons. He had spoken in all of those ways, but my final ask for confirmation is always my husband. If he is supportive then I will have peace. I told God that whatever Dave says I will accept as confirmation. I knew that Dave would say yes because I had asked for exactly what He provided. And He didn't just open the door He provided an opportunity for master's level ministry training absolutely free. He made sure there was no reason for Dave to say no. So, I am going to walk through this door and apply. If I am accepted, then I will continue to walk down this path. If I am not, then I know that I was only to go so far. Either way I thank you Lord for answering and providing and opening the door.
