1 CORINTHIANS 4:1-7:40

1 Corinthians 4:20 For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power.

More to say that we must do more than profess with our mouths that we believe in Jesus. We must live by God's power. If we profess with our mouth and believe in our hearts that Jesus is Lord, then there will be a change in us. We will be able to live in God's power. There should be a noticable change in us.

1 Corinthians 5:12 It isn’t my responsibility to judge outsiders, but it certainly is your responsibility to judge those inside the church who are sinning. 13 God will judge those on the outside; but as the Scriptures say, “You must remove the evil person from among you.”

More support for the fact that we are called to hold each other accountable to live our life for Jesus in the power of God. If we are living in sin that we are not repentant of then we are not living for Christ or in the power of God. We should be going to our brother and sisters who are living in sin and do whatever we can to restore them and bring them to a place of repentance. If they refuse to turn from their sin, then they are not living for Christ and we should not live in fellowship with them. As I have said numerous times, we are not to judge non-believers and should not be surprised when they live an ungodly life.

1 Corinthians 6:12 You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything.

More support for something we talked about at the Table last night. There are things that some people choose to abstain from all together that others feel comfortable partaking in. Things like drinking alcohol. As long as we do not become dependent on it and we don't drink excessively it's not prohibited. But if you are prone to addiction, you should avoid it because you are at a high risk for becoming a slave to it. If you overindulge frequently not only could you become a slave to it, but it could also hinder your Christian witness as well as cause your brother or sister to stumble.

1 Corinthians 6:19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

One way thing that should help us to be responsible in making those choices of what to abstain from and how to keep things we do in moderation is to always remember that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. We belong to Christ. He is all the support we need when we are tempted.

I love how the bible repeatedly supports itself. I have written on these same things from so many other readings. I also love that because it does that, it comes before us over and over again not only to support itself but to remind us over and over again because we are prone to forget. At least I know I am. Thank you for the reminder Lord!

1 Corinthians 7:17–24

Paul is saying you don't need to change who you are or your life situation for God to love you-just obey Him faithfully where you are, and if He opens a door for

something better, walk through it.

I recall this being so hard when I was reaching for God to build a new relationship and I remember that I felt like I had to be different, show that I’ve changed, not only to project outward but inward to feel total acceptance and to gain the wisdom, insight and love that I wanted for my Lord and Savior.

And it’s so much better to know the truth in all of this, one beautiful truth…Jesus loves us righ…
