JOHN 6:22-71

MARK 7:1-23

MATTHEW 15:1-20

John 6:35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. 37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.

At a women's retreat that I was at recently I went to a breakout session and at one point I had said "Come Lord Jesus" and the leader of the session said that she doesn't pray that because she has loved ones that are not saved. Afterward I spoke to her and I said that when I say that it is with the thought that everyone who is to be brought into the kingdom would be since Jesus won't return until that happens. She said she understood but that she does not believe that it is already predetermined who is chosen. I didn't get into a theological discussion for one there wasn't time and second I don't have the scripture memorized to support predestination. I know that the study that convinced me of it was an RC Sproul study on Roman's. But today I see this is a supporting scripture as well. Jesus says that the Father gives those who will believe in Him to Him. And it also supports the once saved always saved principal.

John 6:64 Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him.

And here we see the Jesus already knew who would and would know believe in Him. I don't believe predestination is about God knowing who will choose Jesus and who will not because then it is dependent on the person. I believe that Jesus knew who the Father had given Him and that is how he knew who would not believe.

Matthew 15:12 Then the disciples came to him and asked, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this?”

13 He replied, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. 14 Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

More support that it is the Father plants us and makes us part of the Kingdom. Just like weeds are growing with the wheat that will be thrown into the fire at Jesus return so the trees that the Father did not plant will be pulled up by their roots.
